Rev. Tina Itson
Minister of Missional Discipleship & Youth

I am an ordained Deacon in the United Methodist Church who has worked in youth ministry for over 16 years.  I have worked with Jr & High School students within the local church, in conference level youth ministry, as well as in a secular after school setting.  I also have non-profit management & development experience.  I studied American Studies & American Literature at the University of Southern California as well as received a MDiv & MA in Christian Education from Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary.  At First Church I focus on Youth Ministry as well our ministries of Exhale such as Missions, Outreach, Community Partnerships & our new faith development efforts.

What is the best part of your job?

The best part of my job is working with our students and being able to experience those moments where they become inspired by their faith to make a difference in the world.  I love seeing their excitement and energy and desire to help others and being able to help them see the ways they can make that connection with the church.

What is your favorite thing to do outside of work?

One of my favorite things to do outside of work is to sing.  Currently I sing with the Milwaukee Symphony Chorus.  We practice every Monday and sing about 4-5 concerts a year.  It is a great creative outlet for me and a chance to meet a lot of fun people in the community.

What is your favorite book?

My favorite book is Paulo Coleho’s ‘By the River Piedra I Sat Down and Wept.’  He is one of my favorite authors because of his ability to capture the human spirit in his imagery and in the ways that his characters discover more of who they are in his stories.

 Do you have any pets?

I have a cat named Jack.  He is about 8 years old and loves to hang out with people.
