John Sheaffer

I am the organist and choir accompanist for the traditional worship service.  I’m also an active member of the church.  I graduated from North Central College and Illinois State University with degrees in theater and spent most of my working life at Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance in Milwaukee.  I live with my husband Tim in an historic Victorian home on the near west side of Milwaukee.  We have two sons and two grandchildren.

What is the best part of your job?

Music is the language of my soul, and I love breathing life into pieces of music that move people’s hearts.  Preparing and offering service music on Sundays is wonderful, but I think my greatest joy comes from leading and supporting hymn singing.

What is your favorite book?

“Conversations with God” by Neal Donald Walsh transformed my understanding of spirituality and faith.  I use what I learned from it every day.

Do you have pets?

We have three incomparably great dogs, Sasha, Chloe, and Duke.

If you could change one thing about the world, what would it be?

Less fear: more love.
