Rev. Greta Hietpas
Minister of Formational Discipleship and Children

I grew up in DePere, WI and graduated from UW-Milwaukee and UW-Madison. My husband Brian and I have three children in high school and college who keep us busy. Prior to accepting a call to ministry, I was a high school biology teacher, taught English in Japan, worked for the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, and was a stay-at-home mom. I have served FUMC as a licensed local pastor since 2009 and am currently pursuing my Master of Divinity degree from Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary.  As Minister of Formational Discipleship and Children, I am involved in general pastoral ministry but specifically oversee our “Breathing In” ministries, including spiritual formation for adults and children in 5th grade and under, as well as our worship ministry.

What is the best part of your job?

It is an honor and joy to witness spiritual growth in another person, and I am blessed to be invited into the sacred process here at FUMC.  It’s also really awesome to have the opportunity to work with the kids and hear their deep thoughts and see how they connect what they are learning in our faith community with their lives and the world.

What is your favorite thing to do outside of work?

I love to just hang out with my family and have “light banter.”  I recognize this time as precious and appreciate that our kids seem to enjoy being with us, at least once in a while.

What is your favorite place on earth?

It’s a tie between Nepal and the Cinque Terre in Italy.

What was your first car?
A light blue Dodge Omni.
